In the 1st innings, the rapid bowler jasprit bumrah, securing his 150th wicket, put India in a strong position by dismissing key batsmen like Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, and Tom Hartley.

Ultimately, jasprit Bumrah took 6 wickets for 45 runs as England, trailing India by 143 runs, was bowled out for just 253. With these figures, he reached his 150-wicket milestone, achieving it with 6781 runs, making him the fastest Indian bowler to the feat, surpassing the likes of Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Kapil Dev, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

In the morning, Yashasvi Jaiswal shouldered the responsibility of Indian batting with a splendid double century, as the host team concluded their first innings at 396 runs.

India, playing 336 runs ahead with six wickets down, added 60 runs to their total, getting all out in 112 overs, with a little over 30 minutes left until lunch. Similar to the first day, India heavily relied on Jaiswal (209 out of 290) to amass the majority of the runs, as no other Indian batsman crossed the 40-run mark.

After hitting a six and a four, Shoaib Bashir, Yashasvi Jaiswal became the third-youngest Indian to score a double century, following in the footsteps of Vinod Kambli and the legendary Sunil Gavaskar.

This celebration was particularly exciting for a dedicated cricketer who, in his younger days, used to sleep in a tent at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan, having come from a humble village in Uttar Pradesh to the metropolis. On Friday as well, the 22-year-old left-handed player showed no signs of fear and accumulated a maximum of three figures.

At the age of 22 years and 37 days, Yashasvi Jaiswal is now the third-youngest Indian to score a double century in men’s Test cricket.
