New criminal laws; Fraudster will not be called ‘420’, section of murder changed; Take a look at the special features of the three new laws
The new criminal law is going to come into effect from July 1. These three laws were passed in the winter session of Parliament. With the implementation of these three laws, India’s justice system will be the most modern justice system in the world. This new proposed law has many features and has been specifically designed keeping the victims of crime in mind.
The Indian Judicial Code
It will replace the British-era Penal Code in the country from July 1, 2024. All three new criminal laws recently passed in the Parliament of the country will come into force from July 1, 2024. The Central Government has issued a notification for this today on Saturday.

Indian Penal Code (IPC) will now be replaced by Indian Judicial Code 2023.

The Evidence Act will be replaced by the Indian Evidence Act 2023.

The Indian Civil Protection Code 2023 will come into effect in place of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr. PC).
Now section 302 of murder will be replaced by section 101 and section 307 of attempt to murder will be replaced by section 109. Section 63A will be effective in place of Section 376 of rape. Now there will be section 316 in place of section 420 of fraud.
Three new criminal laws are to come into effect from July 1. The Home Ministry has issued a notification regarding the implementation of the Indian Judicial Code, the Indian Civil Defense Code and the Indian Evidence Act. All three laws will replace the IPC, CrPC and Evidence Act made during the British era.
From July 1, cases will be registered under sections of the new FIR law for various crimes. All three laws were approved by Parliament on December 21 last year.
After the implementation of the new laws, there was no provision in the Indian Justice Code and the Indian Civil and CrPC law in matters related to terrorism except the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Similarly, mob leaching will also come under the category of crime for the first time.

A look at the special features of these three new laws
The IPC had 511 sections, while the Indian Judicial Code that replaced it had 358 sections. The CrPC had 484 sections, while the Indian Civil Defense Code that replaced it has 531 sections. The Evidence Act had 166 sections, while the Indian Evidence Act had 170 sections. There is a provision for punishment in case of murder under section 302 of IPC. However, the new law will have section 101 of murder. There was a case for fraud under section 420. Now according to the new law, the culprits will be prosecuted in this case under section 187. Section 124-E of IPC was applicable in the case of treason, now the case will be prosecuted under Section 150 of the law. Treason has been used instead of treason. In a democratic country, anyone can criticize the government, it is his right, but if anyone does anything to harm the country’s security or property, then action will be taken against him under treason. He will have to go to jail. Under the new terrorism law, any person who uses explosive material, poisonous gas etc. against the country is a terrorist. Terrorist activity is any activity that threatens the security of the Government of India, any State or any foreign government or any international governmental organization. If the accused hiding outside India does not appear in the court within 90 days, he will be tried despite his absence. A public prosecutor will be appointed for the prosecution.
There is a provision for life imprisonment or death penalty for raping minors. In case of gang rape, there is a provision of 20 years imprisonment or life imprisonment.
Section related to hit and run will not be implemented immediately
The Central Government has currently suspended Section 106 (2) of the Indian Judicial Code, that is, this provision related to the crime related to hit and run will not be applicable from July 1. In protest against this section, drivers across the country went on strike in the first week of January and after that the government had to come on the back foot.
The Center had assured that this law would be implemented only after consultation with the All India Motor Transport Congress.
Under this law, there is a provision of imprisonment of up to 10 years and fine to those drivers who cause the death of a person by driving at high speed and carelessly and after the incident, run away without informing any police officer or magistrate. Let’s go.
Policemen and prosecutors are getting training
According to highly placed sources, the training work of police personnel, prosecutors and jail staff across the country will be completed before July. For this, training work of three thousand trainers has been completed. Similarly, the work of training of trial court judges is also going on.
